It could be used as a poisonous gas detector in the church, or provided to low-income families who might otherwise not have one in their homes. Or check out this project designed to detect pollutants in the air, including ethanol, methane, formaldehyde, and a bunch of other volatile organic compounds. Something like this could be used to help mow elderly people’s lawns in your community or in a community you visit on a mission trip. A quick look on reveals any number of ideas.įor instance, check out this remote-controlled lawnmower. With some research and a bit of creative thinking, a small team could develop any number of ministry-related projects (much like i-tech). However, Arduino has the ability to reach this subset of a congregation, while at the same time transforming the world for good.
But what about the techies and engineers in your church? Often these people (whether youth or adult) feel left out, or worse guilty for not finding their place in the church’s ministries. Ministry tends to structured for extroverts who are good with people skills, and at times for people good at construction. It is not for everybody – but it is for a certain niche that often gets overlooked in churches. Obviously, creating Arduino-based projects requires people who like building things and enjoy electronics.

It represents a new trend in technology called open-sourced hardware where anyone can download the designs, free of charge, and re-create the machine without worry from nasty copyright lawyers.Īrduino is a special electronics board based on this open-sourced trend that allows you to do a wide variety of tasks, including controlling lights, motors, and other things. I've been looking for the datasheet of this pan-tilt head and find nothing. My questions now, is it okay for me to follow the instructions on the article? can a normal off the shelf 24v AC power adaptor run this thing, and if it is to which pin at the pan and tilt head can I connect it? because the left, right, up and down pin goes to Arduino and it leaves the AUTO and COM pin unconnected.
Also, in the article, to control Bescor MP-101 with Arduino all its need is using 4 pins (pan left, pan right, tilt up and tilt down) while mine uses 6 pins (left, right, up, down, AUTO and COM). The article was great but the problems I'm having now are Bescor MP-101 running on 5v DC battery while mine is 24v AC.

After a fail attempt at finding a solution, I started is to look for an alternative, which Arduino and find an article by Yvan at about how to control Bescor MP-101. Now, for the past month, I've been trying to help and looking for ways to make it work but can't seem to find a way because usually, this type of pan and tilt head are sold with its controller and power supply. The church would love to use the pan/tilt head and mount an old Sony Handycam (that also came from donations) to display a sermon every Sunday for our elderly attendees. I've volunteered at a church that accepted donations, and a couple of months ago this CCTV pan and tilt head show up without a controller or a power supply. So, okay with that out of the way, let me started this with a story. I'm an electronic/microcontroller enthusiast at best that just wants to help and need help. Secondly, I am not by any means an expert on Arduino, nor electronic.
First and foremost, I want to apologize if this question has already been answered or have already had a fixed solution that I've somehow missed during my research.
